    • Grimsel Hospiz

      Historic alpine hotel
This is a place where history and modernity meet. This Swiss guest house, the first to be mentioned in official records, has been standing on the Grimsel Pass since 1142. In 1932 it caused a stir as the first house in Europe to use electricity for heating. This pioneering philosophy has survived – this responsible and environmentally friendly hotel is now heated entirely using waste heat from the production of hydroelectric power from the crystal-clear Grimsel reservoir. This hotel is well worth a visit – not least because of its cuisine and regional specialities. The deep wine cellar, carved into the rock at 2000 metres above sea level, houses 300 different vintages. In addition to comfortable rooms, the hotel provides ultimate comfort with its panorama lounge, fireside lounge, restaurant and bar. Can be reached from Zurich in around 3 hours.
