Boston is one of the oldest cities in the US. Many key events in the War of Independence occurred here but Bosten has more to offer.
Get a feel for that time by visiting The Boston Tea Party Museum. Beacon Hill is a historic neighborhood where the William Hickling Prescott House from 1808 and the Nichols House from 1804 welcome visitors. Also, notice the gas street lighting. Old doesn’t mean backward. At the Massachusetts General Hospital, visit the operating theater where, in 1846, ether was first successfully used. In 1894, Boston became the first Western city to build a subway system. Two beautifully restored vehicles can be seen at Boylston Street subway station.
