The Danish capital, Copenhagen, is a great city to explore on foot or by bike because all the major attractions are within walking distance.
Take in the gracious 18th-century district of Frederiksstaden, home to the royal palace of Amalienborg, then go to Indre Byen, the oldest part of the city, with its winding streets and atmospheric canal-side cafés. Copenhagen is a wonderful city to explore on 2 wheels. With 350 km of cycle paths it is extremely safe, and the flat landscape makes pedaling a breeze. Hire a bike and either ride around the historic districts or head to Amager Beach – a long stretch of pure white sand 5 km south-east of the city.
