Lyon is the undisputed food capital of France. It boasts many world-class restaurants, but you can have just as much fun grazing in the city’s excellent markets, which sell fine local produce.
The Romans also thought very highly of this fruitful region. There are many remnants of their city still visible today, including two magnificent theaters. Lyon’s old town is well-preserved and has a mysterious character thanks to the traboules – maze-like passages and courtyards that let you pass through the middle of buildings. In contrast to these dark alleyways, the cathedral is full of light and space. Take a look at the gorgeous rose window.
