Nuremberg is the perfect example of a historic German city lovingly restored. The second largest city in the state of Bavaria, has a big amount of young inhabitants due to the many university institutions. Take a SWISS flight and see for yourself.
The Kaiserberg Castle looms over the old town, which is packed with half-timbered buildings, and every day at noon a mechanical clock on the Frauenkirche Church creates a parade of figures, accompanied by chimes. You can still walk several kilometers of the city wall. There is a daily craft market in the old town, but at Christmas the square is home to the Christkindlesmarkt. A Christmas angel opens proceedings by proclaiming a festive message. Stalls sell gingerbread, fruit cake and beautiful wooden toys and crafts. Stay warm with a glass of hot, spicy glühwein.
