Sharing the city’s name, one of its most famous dishes is “Zürcher Geschnetzeltes”, a veal dish with lots of cream and mushrooms. Another hearty meal is “Zürcher Zouftschriibertopf”, which loosely translates to “guild writer’s stew”, and combines beef, pork, veal, bacon, liver and kidney with vegetables, such as carrots, peas and potatoes. Zurichs nightlife

Public swimming pools, the so-called “badis” are great for taking a dip during a hot summer day. But the people in Zurich have transformed them into something more: as soon as the sun sets, the “badis” transform into lakeside lounges, where you can enjoy refreshments. It is a great start to discover the vibrant nightlife of Zurich. As a university town, it has a very active club scene, live music venues and countless cosy bars and restaurants.

Swiss souvenirs for everybody

“Im Viadukt” is a unique shopping area that can be found underneath the arches of an actual viaduct in the Züri-West neighbourhood. There, you can shop for the latest fashion items or enjoy the culinary highlights of the nearby food market, complete with fine wines and local cheese.

If you are looking for souvenirs but do not have the budget for luxury watches or jewelry, consider getting an original Swiss army knife. Not only is it a distinctly Swiss item, it will also last forever because of its high manufacturing quality.
