Between 11 and 24 October 2017, SWISS will be celebrating the crowning of Thurgau’s apple queen with special dishes on board selected European flights.

Thurgau is commonly known as the apple canton of Switzerland. Every year, the canton crowns its apple queen, who acts as a representative of the canton and its fruit for twelve months. This year, the OLMA, the agricultural fair of St. Gallen in eastern Switzerland will serve as the place of crowning and inauguration and Thurgau will be invited as a guest canton. An excellent opportunity for “Mostindien”, as Thurgau is lovingly called because of its extensive fruit production, to present itself at its best. The crowning of this year’s apple queen takes place on 21 October.

You can look forward to the culinary highlights on board, too. On selected European flights, we’ll be serving veal with an apple vinaigrette and millet salad. On longer flights, a choice between sauerbraten from Thurgau with a potato-apple-celeri gratin or a cheese spaetzle gratin with sliced apples will be available as a main course. For dessert, you can look forward to a piece of apple cake and a traditional apple juice cream.
