Safety & Swissness: the new SWISS Safety Video

When safety instructions merge with storytelling against a breathtaking Swiss backdrop, there can be only one thing: the new SWISS Safety Video has arrived.

2025 is a year of premieres for SWISS: with the Airbus A350, we’re introducing a next-generation aircraft to our fleet and with SWISS Senses, we’ve created a completely new long-haul experience. Another highlight follows now: With our new safety video, we offer you a varied viewing experience that puts safety instructions at the forefront while taking you on an inspiring journey through Switzerland.

SWISS Safety Video 2025 | SWISS

The difference from the previous film is clear at first glance: For the first time, we’re using real footage instead of animations, aimed at helping our guests fully immerse themselves in the story and clearly grasp the instructions. Critical safety information remains the focus, seamlessly embedded in a narrative that feels natural and elegant. Carried by real people and the Swiss backdrop, these scenes are meant not only to inform but also to evoke emotions, ensuring they stay in the audience’s memory.

A homecoming in Switzerland
In the heart of New York, the protagonist makes her final preparations for her long-awaited journey home to Switzerland. As she packs for the trip, memories of past travels through the country come alive – she dreams of hiking in the Alps, taking road trips through picturesque landscapes, relaxing by the water, and enjoying family gatherings in Zurich and Geneva, SWISS’s two main hubs.

Behind the scenes – the concept
The film follows a three-layered concept: the first layer sets the ambience, telling the overarching story and creating an emotional connection with the protagonist. Landscapes, cities, and encounters with family and friends make the anticipation for the journey palpable. In the second layer, safety information is seamlessly integrated into the protagonist’s everyday situations and communicated clearly and intuitively. On the third level, the focus is on delivering critical safety instructions and clearly conveying complex procedures. Here, the film deliberately shifts from narrative storytelling to structured, unmistakable demonstrations. Instructions are reinforced with original safety card graphics, universal pictograms, and the presence of uniformed cabin crew members. This is intended to ensure that guests, regardless of language or cultural background, not only see these instructions but also understand them for critical situations and remember them. Real professionals were in front of the camera for this: The two crew members actually work with us.

SWISS’s signature aesthetic shines through natural colors, cinematic lighting, and elegant costume and set design. Close-ups and carefully crafted moments add emotional depth, allowing the protagonist to journey through memories and locations in a sensory, immersive way.

Onboard premiere
The film will make its debut on board during the delivery flight of our first Airbus A350 from Toulouse to Zurich, and will then be gradually rolled out across all other aircraft throughout the winter.

Impressive Swiss locations: Comédie de Genève and Engstlenalp
The film not only features the well-known highlights of Zurich and Geneva but also takes viewers to other must-visit destinations for anyone traveling through Switzerland:

Comédie de Genève – a theater of encounter and innovation
The Comédie de Genève (CDG) is Geneva’s oldest institution dedicated to dramatic theater. Founded in 1913, it moved in 2021 to a modern building that is worth visiting just for its architecture. The CDG is a place where theater comes alive – a hub for art, culture, and human connection. With its diverse and daring programming, it invites audiences to view the world from new perspectives.

The CDG is not just a performance venue but also a vibrant space for artistic creation. Modern workshops and rehearsal rooms make it a center for developing new productions, bringing together local and international artists. The current season explores the depths of human emotion, with a particular focus on productions by women and female directors addressing contemporary societal issues.

In the Safety Film, the protagonist meets a friend at the Comédie de Genève. Together, they view the artwork “Adsum” by the Swiss artist studio Encor, which serves as a futuristic canvas for the evacuation instructions. The unforgettable installations by Encor Studio have long been celebrated on the world’s greatest stages – whether at Art Basel, as the centerpiece of a show at Paris Fashion Week, or as a breathtaking light projection on Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. On board with us, their art now takes on a completely new and extraordinary form. Learn more about how Encor Studio uses a blend of acoustics, light, and technology to create multidimensional layers that captivate viewers, here.

The picturesque Engstlenalp
Sometimes nature seems almost too beautiful to be real – just like Engstlenalp, 1,834 meters above sea level in the Canton of Bern. Surrounded by majestic mountains, including the popular Titlis, the alp impresses not only with its stunning location but also with its diverse flora and a small lake. On the day of filming the oxygen mask scene, the landscape was still in shadow in the early morning, and the first rays of sunlight slowly crept over the mountain peaks. It was mid-October, yet our cabin crew member showed no sign of the crisp, cold autumn air.

The winding road from Innertkirchen up to Engstlenalp also became part of the film. Nestled between two prominent mountain ranges, its wide curves provided the perfect backdrop for shots, such as fastening the seatbelt. The breathtaking scenery added a special dynamism to the scenes and emphasized the connection to Switzerland.
