The magic of Swiss hospitality
From the moment you step on board, a quiet sense of anticipation fills the air. Those who choose SWISS First know: it’s the small gestures and thoughtful details that make all the difference – like the moment after the first service when the crew offers a delicate selection of finest Swiss confiserie. For many guests, this is a highlight of their journey: a true expression of craftsmanship and Swiss tradition.
Sprüngli – a legacy of craftsmanship
The story of Sprüngli began in 1836, when David Sprüngli opened a confectionery shop on Zurich’s Marktgasse. By 1845, he ventured into chocolate production, laying the foundation for a Swiss success story. In 1859, the business moved to Paradeplatz, which later became the heart of Zurich’s confectionery culture.
In 1892, Rudolf Sprüngli divided the company between his two sons: Johann Rudolf took over the chocolate factory, which eventually became Lindt & Sprüngli, while David Robert continued the confectionery business that is now known as Confiserie Sprüngli. In 1899, the chocolate production merged with Lindt, creating the international Lindt & Sprüngli group. Confiserie Sprüngli, however, remained an independent, artisanal family business, still run today by the sixth generation.
Sprüngli’s values remain unchanged: uncompromising quality, attention to detail, and a constant pursuit of innovation. A point of pride is its Grand Cru chocolate – single-origin cocoa, hand-harvested and meticulously processed. Each Grand Cru chocolate is a unique creation, reflecting the flavors of its origin.
Another highlight are the legendary Luxemburgerli. This success story began in the 1950s when a young pastry chef from Luxembourg brought the recipe to Zurich. Today, these airy mini-macarons are available in numerous flavors and are made fresh daily from regional ingredients. Their vibrant colors and flavors come exclusively from natural sources—a true piece of Swiss culinary culture.
The collaboration with SWISS
Two strong brands united by shared values: service excellence, Swissness, and uncompromising quality. These principles form the foundation of the long-standing partnership between Confiserie Sprüngli and SWISS.
Since the first order in 2000, the collaboration has continued to evolve. In addition to pralines and confiserie, hand-rolled flûtes and the Sprüngli x SWISS chocolate aircraft enrich the assortment. The flûtes are carefully crafted in Dietikon, reflecting Sprüngli’s attention to detail and high standards, and are served as an aperitif in SWISS First. The chocolate aircraft, in turn, is a sweet gesture for birthdays on board, special events, or memorable occasions.
With the new concept, SWISS takes it a step further: the SWISS Signature Praliné Maracaibo, made from Grand Cru chocolate with 65% cocoa sourced from beans grown at the foot of the Andes in Venezuela, is the centerpiece of an innovative presentation. Embossed with the SWISS logo and served in a reusable box, this praline represents the best of both worlds—Swiss craftsmanship and hospitality carried across the globe.
The exclusive new praline service invites guests to choose from a sustainable, reusable box featuring six exquisite creations: four different pralines and two confiserie specialties, with a rotating selection. This flexible and elegant presentation underscores SWISS’s commitment to offering every guest a truly special experience.
With 30 boutiques, three cafés, and a restaurant at Paradeplatz, Sprüngli is an integral part of Switzerland’s world of indulgence. On board our long-haul flights, Sprüngli delights SWISS First guests with moments of pure sensory pleasure.
Every flight becomes part of a story of passion, exceptional service, and a shared goal: turning travel into an experience. Those who savor these fine pralines take a piece of Swiss tradition with them—and perhaps a renewed appreciation for life’s small, special moments.
