Swiss design takes flight

A Zurich atelier, a piece of craftsmanship, and a shared eye for good design: this is how the collaboration between SWISS and the Swiss premium eyewear brand VIU began. As part of SWISS Senses, it has resulted in the new SWISS Business amenity kit. Inside VIU’s very first store in Zurich, we gain insight into the brand’s story, its design philosophy, and the eyewear that brings Swiss clarity to the world.

The new amenity kit in SWISS Business
With our new SWISS Business amenity kit, created in collaboration with VIU, we are introducing a fresh design element to the travel experience of our guests. The kit is available in four rotating designs throughout the year, each offered in black or bordeaux. Its design follows clean lines, the material is durable, and each version is ideal for storing and protecting personal items such as eyewear, cables, cosmetics, jewelry, or other valuables – making it perfectly suited for reuse. Each amenity kit contains a dental care set, socks, and earplugs. Guests can now also personalize their kit with additional comfort items upon request, including an eye mask, mouthwash, a VIU microfiber cleaning cloth, or lip balm.

Rethinking eyewear: VIU Eyewear
The Swiss premium eyewear brand VIU was founded in Zurich in 2013 with the goal of redefining design, quality, and sustainability. Its journey began on Grünaustrasse, where the first office also served as a showroom. From the very beginning, founders Kilian Wagner, Fabrice Aeberhard, and Peter Kaeser focused on a direct path from concept to customer – without intermediaries, relying instead on transparent production and a clear design language.

Rather than relying solely on an online model, VIU chose early on to emphasize personal consultation and a deliberate, transparent approach – an idea that remains the foundation of its success today. Clean forms, honest design, and direct customer connection continue to shape the brand and can be felt in every store and every frame.

Designed in Switzerland: from eyewear to the onboard experience
All of VIU’s eyewear designs are created in the brand’s in-house design lab in Zurich. With Swiss understatement and a “less is more” approach, VIU blends cultural values with refined clarity – resulting in frames that offer the right shape for every personality. This is reflected in model names such as “The Essential”, “The Expert” and “The Sophisticated” – frames defined by reduced, approachable design and a sense of individual expression.

For SWISS, it quickly became clear that VIU’s design philosophy aligns seamlessly with the aesthetic of SWISS Senses. Both brands share the belief that good design shapes experiences – thoughtful, minimal, and enduring. This mindset also guided the development of the new amenity kit: from the very first sketch, the collaboration was closely aligned, with a clear goal – to create a product that unites functionality, Swiss design culture, and onboard comfort.

More variety in SWISS Premium Economy
Guests in SWISS Premium Economy can also look forward to a new amenity kit as part of SWISS Senses. The exclusive SWISS design by Clip blends quality, functionality, and timelessness. Available in three versions – the Tin Box, the Transparent Pouch, and the Fabric Pouch – and in two different colors, the kit offers a choice tailored to individual travel preferences. Inside, guests will find travel essentials including socks made of 100% recycled polyester, earplugs, toothpaste from Humble, and a bamboo toothbrush designed to accompany travelers not only onboard but on journeys far beyond.

The new SWISS Kids amenity kit
Even our youngest guests travel well equipped with us: in SWISS Business and SWISS First, children receive a full amenity kit whenever a child meal is ordered for them. For children between two and eight years old, this is done automatically. The SWISS Kids Amenity Kit includes anti-slip socks, an eye mask, a Tic-Tac-Toe game, and a toothbrush with child-friendly toothpaste – everything young guests need for a pleasant journey. The kit currently comes in the form of a small sports bag, which not only makes the flight experience more personal and comfortable, but can also be taken home as a reusable gift.
