C Series – the future of aviation

As the world's first operator of the Bombardier C Series, SWISS is proud to have one of the most modern short-haul aircraft in its fleet.

The Bombardier C Series has been operating for SWISS on European routes since 15 July 2016. Over time, the C Series will gradually be replacing our Avro RJ100 fleet. As the first customer, we played an important role in the development of the C Series. The following properties make the C Series the most modern aircraft on short- and medium-haul routes.

More environmentally friendly

Thanks to the innovative Pratt & Whitney engines, the C Series uses around 20% less fuel. CO2 output is reduced by some 90,000 tons a year, which equates to 7,000 flights between Zurich and London City. Thanks to the new technology, the C Series also emits 50% less nitrogen oxide.

"Whisperjet"

The C Series is also often called the "Whisperjet". The human ear perceives this aircraft by the Canadian manufacturer Bombardier as 50% quieter than comparable aircraft. The passengers onboard will notice this, but so too will the people who live in the vicinity of the airport.

Innovatives Cockpit

The cockpit was developed by pilots for pilots, and is tailored precisely to their requirements. The pilots can see all the flight information at a glance on the large screens. The head-up displays allow the pilots to call up important information while looking outside at the same time.

New feeling of space

The innovative seats are lighter and offer our guests more space, legroom and comfort. Large windows allow more light into the cabin, and open up fabulous views. There is plenty of room for hand luggage in the overhead bins, which close upwards for easier loading.
