Find out more about what happens to your advance seat reservation if your flight is cancelled or you have to rebook.
If your flight is cancelled or you are rebooked to another flight on which no equivalent seat is available in your seat category (e.g. extra legroom), you are entitled to a refund of the fee for your advance seat reservation. If you are rebooked to another flight on which an equivalent seat is available in your seat category (e.g. extra legroom), your original advance seat reservation remains valid and no refund is required.
As a general rule, the refund is made to the payment method used for booking (e.g. credit card). If the refund is made automatically, you will receive a corresponding confirmation email. The airline you booked with is responsible for the refund. If you booked via a third party (e.g. a travel agency), please contact them directly.
Please note that advance seat reservations cannot be refunded at the airport or on board.
If your advance seat reservation changes, the following cancellation and refund conditions apply:
In the event of an operational change (e.g. change of aircraft type, change of itinerary), we will try to rebook you to the same seat category that you previously booked. However, the seat number previously selected may vary. If we are unable to rebook you to the same seat category, the advance seat reservation is refundable.
If you have made an advance seat reservation for your flight and would like to change your seat, you can do so via “My Bookings”. The following rules apply:
You can change to a lower seat category free of charge. The price difference is non-refundable but will remain in your reservation and can be used for a later rebooking to a higher seat category (e.g. back to the original seat category, if available, or to a higher seat category).
You can rebook to a higher seat category by paying the price difference.
If you decide to cancel your flight, it is not possible to refund the fee for the seats reserved in advance.
If you change your flight or rebook your flight and the route remains the same, you can transfer your seat reservation to the new flight. If the original seat category is not available on the new flight,
- you can rebook to a lower seat category free of charge. The price difference is non-refundable but will remain in your reservation and can be used for a later rebooking to a higher seat category (e.g. to the seat category originally booked if it becomes available again).
- By paying the price difference, you can rebook to a higher seat category.
If you change your route, the amount paid for the seat reservation will not be refunded and cannot be credited to a new seat reservation, and you may incur higher costs.
If you have made an advance seat reservation before the upgrade and your new travel class includes an advance seat reservation as standard, you are entitled to a refund of the fee you paid for the advance seat reservation.
Please note that although it is possible to rebook your Flex fare, additional costs may apply (e.g. equal to the fare difference). After rebooking, you can reserve a new seat in the same seat category free of charge, subject to availability.
