Venice is a city where you can walk into an ordinary small parish church and find a painting by Bellini. This wealth is due to the fact that for centuried the city was the heart of a rich trading empire. The finest treasure house of all is the St. Mark’s church, where golden mosaics glimmer in the dark.
There is so much to see in Venice, that you may need a break from art and architecture at some point. If so, take a vaporetto boat to the Lido, where part of the long white beach is open to the public. There is also a golf course, shopping opportunities and many excellent trattorias in the neighbourhood.
