What to do after your flight to Geneva has landed
Geneva Airport is the second largest in the country after Zurich Airport. It is located northwest of the city near the French border. After disembarking from your Geneva flight, you can take a train from the airport station towards the city centre. Trains run regularly and often, and it takes around seven minutes to reach the main station, Genève-Cornavin. From there you can continue by bus, taxi or on foot. Alternatively, you can take a bus from the airport, which will take about half an hour or rent a car at one of the rental stations.
Practical tips after your flight to Geneva
- Payment: The official currency is the Swiss franc (CHF). However, in many shops, restaurants and hotels you can also pay with euros. Note, however, that you will receive change in Swiss francs. Alternatively, you can pay with Girocard or credit card.
- Communication: Geneva is located in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, where the official language is French. However, since it is an international city, it is highly unlikely that you will run into any communication problems after your flight to Geneva. Most people speak English, and German and Italian are often spoken.
