Their introduction marks a major milestone in the long-term development of our fleet. The new aircraft consume significantly less fuel, are noticeably quieter, and feature the all-new SWISS Senses cabin—our latest product that reflects the modern premium standards SWISS stands for.
The numbers speak for themselves: roughly 25 percent lower fuel consumption, substantially reduced noise emissions, and a construction made of more than 50 percent advanced composite materials. Add to that approximately 20 percent higher cabin humidity and a travel experience under the name “SWISS Senses” that you don’t just see—you truly feel.
From Toulouse to Zurich
The journey of every new Airbus A350 begins at the state-of-the-art Airbus facilities in Toulouse. Here, fuselage sections, wings, and central systems are assembled, and the SWISS Senses cabin is installed—complete with seats, galleys, lavatories, overhead bins, and other key modules. Afterward, the aircraft receives its livery. Extensive test flights focusing on aerodynamics, handling, cabin pressure, and avionics complete the process.
Its creation is an international effort: wings from the United Kingdom, the forward fuselage from northern Germany, and the heart of the avionics system from France. From thousands of individual parts, a long‑haul aircraft takes shape—one that will define our future, before it eventually crosses the Swiss Alps to arrive at its new home.
An aircraft that shapes our future
The Airbus A350‑900 is one of the most advanced long‑haul aircraft in the world. It produces about 25 percent less CO₂, is more than 50 percent quieter than previous-generation aircraft, and consumes on average just 2.5 liters of fuel per 100 passenger‑kilometers. Its high share of modern composite materials makes it extremely lightweight and remarkably durable. And with its generous cargo capacity, it provides a significant boost to the growth of Swiss WorldCargo.
The new SWISS Senses cabin experience
The A350 is the first aircraft in our fleet to feature the full SWISS Senses cabin. It offers:
- 3 First Class suites with private doors, ample storage, and spacious tables
- 45 Business Class seats, including beds up to 220 cm long, some with sliding doors
- 38 Premium Economy seats offering significantly more personal space
- 156 Economy seats with modern, exceptionally quiet seating, new features, and large screens
Inside, the aircraft becomes a sanctuary for the senses. SWISS Senses draws inspiration from the serenity of the Alps, with warm materials, natural colors, and a lighting concept modeled after a sunrise. First Class suites become private retreats. Business Class transforms into a personal cocoon. Premium Economy finally makes space feel like real space. And even Economy welcomes guests with more calm, more light, and more comfort.
But this aircraft also tells another story. The story of the people behind it. Of technicians who inspect every cable. Of crews who bring the new cabin world to life. And of countless employees who have prepared for this moment with patience, precision, and passion over many years.
A flying tribute to Switzerland
On its fuselage, our first SWISS Airbus A350, welcomed with a ceremonial water salute in Zurich in October 2025, carries something truly special: the “SWISS Wanderlust” special livery. A flying art gallery that brings together landscapes, cities, traditions, and modern Swiss culture. A colorful, lovingly illustrated panorama of our country, created by Swiss artist Frédéric Siegel.
We wish you a pleasant journey!
