SBB offers a check-in service with or without baggage. The service costs CHF 12.00 without baggage, and CHF 22.00 per baggage item. The desk on the lower floor is open daily from 8.00 until 19.45.

Airtrain   

SWISS and Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) offer a feeder service between Basel Central Station and Zurich Airport.

General information about Airtrain

  • The Airtrain fare is included in the ticket price when you book SWISS to/from Basel (code BSL, EAP, MLH).
  • For smooth connections you have the choice of 17 Airtrain connections daily in both directions.
  • Journey time is 80 minutes, no change of train is involved. Except for only the late evening connection to Basel with airtrain LX7430, a change of train is required at Zurich main station.
  • SWISS First and Business Class tickets are valid for 1st class rail travel, SWISS Economy tickets for 2nd class rail travel.
  • You receive two separate boarding passes, one for your flight and one for the Airtrain.
  • Rail travel options: trains connecting via Zurich Main Station are also possible.

SBB ticket requirement and ticket check aboard

A ticket for the SBB Airtrain has been compulsory for rail passengers since December 2011. As of 1 February 2012 you will be required to pay a surcharge of CHF 12.- if you board the Airtrain without a valid ticket.

Please note the following points:

  • The following travel documents are accepted as a valid ticket: boarding pass with barcode or SWISS electronic travel itinerary (flight confirmation) with barcode.
  • Train crew will no longer accept flight confirmations without barcode as valid rail tickets.
  • If you travel with a ticket without a barcode, you require a boarding pass for the Airtrain.
  • Web Check-in (swiss.com/webcheckin): You can save time by selecting your seat and printing your boarding card within 23 hours of departure.
  • The SWISS Mobile Boarding Pass is not accepted on the Airtrain.

Earn miles with Airtrain

Miles & More members can earn valuable award, status and HON Circle miles, according to class of air travel and route flown. Flights in SWISS Economy earn 125 to 1000 miles per route; those in SWISS Business are credited with 500 to 1500 miles per route.
