EXCESS BAGGAGE

Please refer to the free baggage allowance page or your flight ticket for the maximum permissible weight of your baggage. Items exceeding these limits are referred to as excess baggage. In this case, the tariff structure demands a surcharge which is based on the weight or piece concept, depending on the situation.

Weight of excess luggage
If you know the weight of the item of excess baggage, please let our Service Center calculate the transport costs. If you have excess baggage of 100 kg or more, please notify us when making your flight reservation.

Check-in times
Check in your excess baggage 20 minutes before the latest Check-in times.

Tariff concept for excess luggage
As a general rule, we apply the tariff concept based on weight. For a detailed list of allocations to tariff zones for airports of departure and arrival, please refer to:
Weight Concept

Individual flights are subject to the tariff concept based on the number of luggage items. If your airports of departure and arrival are not included in the list subject to the weight concept, the piece concept applies to your excess luggage.
Piece ConceptSending excess baggage as cargo
If you are not dependent on having your excess baggage transported in the same aircraft with which you are flying, we recommend the reasonable cargo tariffs offered by Swiss WorldCargo.

The formalities and costs (customs and handling duties upon arrival) associated with cargo transport are to be borne by you.
